Biography

My name is John Accavitti, and as a life long resident I have a genuine commitment to our community and to Michigan. I graduated from L’anse Cruse High School North and then attended Macomb Community College. In my teens I packed groceries at DiMaggio’s Market in New Baltimore and spent my summers on Lake St. Clair. My dad was an auto worker who showed me the value of hard work and a job done right. My wife Diane works for General Motors as a Wood Model Maker. Together we are raising two children named Jaclyn and Daniel, who attend Armada Area Public Schools. I have been part of your community all of my life and now hope to serve you as State Representative.

The reason for my seeking office is simple. I was born and raised in Michigan, educated in Michigan, and am now raising my children in Michigan. Michigan is where my parents are and where my friends live. In short, Michigan is family to me. It is tragic to watch as Michigan companies, one by one, leave our state- not to go overseas, but over our border to places like Texas, Alabama, Tennessee, and the Carolinas. They are taking Michigan jobs with them and destroying our economy in the process.

I am running for State Representative because as I see it, it is an opportunity to help make Michigan’s government work with its citizens, entrepreneurs, and businesses; not over them. I believe Michigan can and must provide opportunity rather than smothering it. Michigan must foster productivity rather than stifling it. My objective is to help create a healthy, vigorous, growing Michigan through lower taxes, less regulation, and responsible government spending.

Michigan’s people have been waiting. They don't demand miracles but they do expect ACTION and they expect it NOW. I know of no greater way to encourage change than to serve my community and the state of Michigan as a Legislator.
